Description

Vintage Alva Museum Replicas Celtic Ornament Brooch

Semi-matte gold electroplated. Partial mark on reverse.

Authorized, copyrighted reproduction made from the original (at the Seattle Art Museum) bronze, Roman era, about 2nd century A.D. In northern Europe near the beginning of the creative era, decorative openwork ornamental bronze discs were used in various courts as pendants or mounts, to be suspended from the girdle of a man or woman for the attachment of keys or other personal accessories. This disc with its curves and reverse curves is typical of those of Celtic origin, probably during Roman reign, around the 2nd century A.D.
